Who We Are

A New Mexican art house, built from the space in between.

An interdisciplinary agency building New Mexico productions and mentorship productions, strengthening New Mexico’s creative workforce across fashion, film, dance, music, poetry, museums and public art.

✦  why we created nepantla  ✦

Born between worlds. Building new ones.

Time and again we’ve seen our people asked to be smaller, or told no. Nepantla Corazones is an undeniable yes to those who feel lost or too much, and to anyone stuck between binaries, cultures, time and borders.

We felt the burnout of working in systems not made by or for us, so we built our own: one with room to grow as independent artists, paid and believed in.

International Museum of Dance – New Mexico

Before Nepantla had its name, we co-directed community research and development at IMOD-NM, where we first built CAMP. IMOD-NM, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, still backs our work today.

Our roots run through festival and art curation as much as education: Zozobra 101 before 50,000 people, Threading the Rift in Taos, runway production with SWAIA, Indigenous New York Fashion Week, museum collaborations, gallery shows and films made with New Mexico artists.
